About RSDL

What is the Rochester Soccer Developmental League?
The RSDL is the RYSL / RSC intermediate developmental league. The RSDL is open to all players from all communities.

The RSDL or “the D league” as it’s affectionately know, will provide players with first class training and nationally licensed coaches with less of the time, travel and financial commitments of travel soccer. The RSDL is available for boys and girls in the U7, U8, U9 and U10 age groups. The RSDL is the first developmental league of its kind in the state of Michigan.

When will the RSDL play?
The RSDL will practice and play the Fall (September and October) and Spring (April, May, June) outdoor seasons.  During the winter we go indoors to Ultimate Soccer Arena to practice and play.

How often do teams train and play?
The RSDL will play the Spring and Fall seasons. Each season will be eight weeks in length. RSDL players will train twice a week with licensed coaches. Practice sessions will be one hour in length. Teams will play one game a week. Coaches will also coach games.  Winter programs are one day a week only with a 45 min practice and 45 min game.

What is the cost of the RSDL?
Fall 2011 - Due to increasing costs to the program, we unfortunatly have to increase the fee for Fall and Spring from $250 to $275.  Note that this is the first increase in fees since 2007.  The RSDL has its own unique adidas uniform. The uniform is available only at Soccer World (Rochester) and costs around $60 plus tax.

Where will I have to travel?

All outdoor games and practices will be normally be held at Borden Park soccer fields.  We do go indoors if the weather is real bad, either at the Auburn Golf Dome or Ultimate Soccer Arena.

How are teams formed? Teams are formed by having a play in day.  Players get an evaluation and are then placed in evenly matched teams.  There is no buddy system in the 'D' league.  Depending on registration numbers, age groups could be mixed.

Who do we play against?  Teams play against each other in a round robin format.  Sometimes we put special teams together to travel to local tournaments.

How do we sign up for the RSDL?
Registration for the RSDL is similar to the RYSL. You may use our electronic registration process located on our web site. Once registered for the program, the system will automatically send email confirmation.

Note: Registration fills fast and is limited to a total of 160 players.  Once registration is closed, players are placed on a waiting list.

Frequently Asked Questions.

I don't live in the greater Rochester area, can I still join the RDSL?  -  Of course you can.  The RSDL is open to ALL communities.  Click on registration and follow the instructions.

Can I play for both the RYSL and the RSDL?  -  Yes you can, you just have to register for both.

Will my child learn anything?  -  Very good question!  All we can say is that we have a hand picked staff with a curriculm designed by the Directors of the RSC.  The coaching staff will first ask your child a question, if they don't know the answer we move to what we call "the guided discovery", the rest is up to your child.

Do I have to play the RSDL before I tryout for the RSC?  -  No of course you don't!  RSC has an open tryout policy.  Saying this however, the 'D' league would be the best place for your child to develop.  The RSC coaching staff often visit the 'D' league to look for wee hidden treasures.
