About RSC

Founded in 1978, the Rochester Soccer Club (RSC) (formerly known as the Rochester Select Soccer Club) is one of Michigan's premier community based soccer travel clubs. It is home to numerous State Cup and tournament champions.

The RSC offers the highest level of technical and tactical skills development for its players in a positive environment that fosters team play and good sportsmanship. The Club is dedicated to developing the full potential of every boy and girl at all levels of play, competing in the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program and the Michigan Youth Soccer League. Additional opportunities for advance training are offered year-round with player clinics and indoor competition.

All RSC teams have experienced state, national and/or internationally licensed coaches. Many of these coaches are actively involved at the local high school and college level. Player and coach development is under the direction of the club's Director of Coaching, Mark Hamilton. Coach Hamilton is a National B licensed coach, National Youth licensed coach, member of the MSYSA coaching instructional staff and Director of the MSYSA Boys and Girls ODP Goalkeeper Program.

The Club's home field is beautiful Borden Park in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Borden Park is approved for Olympic competition and was used as a practice field during the 1994 World Cup.

Rochester Soccer Club is challenging soccer! Here's what to expect...
Enhanced Training and Increased Opportunity for Competition
The RSC provides dedicated soccer players increased training, from either a coach or a licensed professional trainer, to enhance their basic skills, conditioning and understanding of the game and tactics. The players compete against other travel teams and thus test themselves in a higher level of play.

RSC provides more opportunities for competition. In addition to the regular season schedule in which teams play one or two times a week, most Select teams attend two to three tournaments a year. While many tournaments are local, RSC teams may also travel out-of-state for regional competition. Tournaments during the Labor and Memorial Days weeks are the norm.

Year-Round Training and Play:
RSC teams usually train two to three times a week with a typical training session being about one and a half to two hours in length. Training doesn't end with the close of the Fall season. Teams usually play one to three sessions of indoor soccer throughout the winter. Winter sessions usually consist of one competitive game and one to two practices per week. The indoor season generally ends in March with teams beginning outdoor for the Spring season as weather permits. The Spring season begins in April and runs through the beginning of June, with a practice schedule similar to that of the Fall.

Competitive Costs:
Costs to play Select soccer vary from team to team. Cost include coaching fees, registration fees, indoor sessions, uniforms and tournaments. Each coach must present a team information sheet at tryouts specifically outlining the cost of team participation. Generally, the cost are in the range of $1,600-$2,000 a year, highly competitive with other travel soccer clubs. Although many RSC coaches and trainers are paid, the RSC itself is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization and passes the savings of this structure on to its participating members.

Tryouts:
Tryouts usually take place during the middle of June at Borden Park. (Please check the current RSC Boys and Girls Tryout Schedules for the appropriate age times.) Tryouts consist of two two-hour tryout sessions. During this time, each coach will evaluate all players attending the tryout session. Even players who played for a RSC team in the Spring season must compete for a spot. All players attending tryouts will be notified whether they have or have not made the team within 72 hours of the last day of the tryouts.
